Kathryn Callander - Conductor 

Kathryn Callander took over the baton from Donald Feist in January 2016. The choir were very fortunate to be able to attract someone with such musical ability, coupled with extensive local and national Mod experience. In her own words she has for as long as she can remember "been in the midst of Gaelic song, whether solo, duet, quartet or choral." Brought up in Oban she left to study Music at the RSAMD in Glasgow. Following this, she undertook a career in Music Education, whilst also pursuing life as a professional musician. Kathryn taught for 34 years, 28 of which were as Principal teacher of Music and Performing Arts. As well as conducting Govan Gaelic Choir, she is currently Associate Tutor on the B.Ed Music course, based at the Conservatoire and Glasgow University, teaches one day a week, and leads worship in church where her husband is Minister.
